What is the difference between hard and soft aluminium foils?
Though forming hard aluminium foil requires more effort, it stays in form better. Soft aluminium foils result from subsequent annealing. They can be formed more easily, are more flexible and therefore rather used for coatings.
What aluminium foil thicknesses do you offer?
Our standard aluminium foil product range provides a general overview. We have many more thicknesses in our portfolio. The maximum thickness is 0.300 mm. The thinnest foil that we produce is 0.010 mm.
What are your usual production or delivery times?
As we have a very large and extensive warehouse for our aluminium foil raw materials, we can reduce the delivery times of the rolling mill from 12 weeks or more. Our usual production and delivery times are 2 – 3 weeks.
For which applications are soft or hard aluminium foil suitable?
After the rolling process the aluminium foils are usually in hard condition = hard temper. Subsequent annealing of the aluminium foil makes it softer and also smoother. Soft aluminium foils are used in many different ways, e.g. for lamination, lamination, for lacquering, packaging, solar & Photovoltaics and much more. Aluminium foils in the temper hard are clearly stiffer. These often used for deformation, forming and wire production, filter production and also used in electrical engineering.
Do you also have standard foils?
We have bundled frequently requested thicknesses and produced dimensions in our standard program. In addition, there is a special program for laboratory requirements. You can find out more about this under the heading Assortments.
Is aluminium foil free of grease?
In general: no! To produce aluminium foils free of grease or rolling oil, they have to be chemically degreased. But the thinner and softer the aluminium foils, the smaller the residue of rolling oil. Please find more about this topic in our Alu-Notes.
What are your minimum quantities?
That depends on the dimensions. We have already produced foils in small quantities of 5 kg or less. Please find some examples in the reference list for customized production.
In which alloys do you offer aluminium foil?
From an aluminium thickness of 30 µm (0.030 mm) the alloy EN AW-1050A is mostly used. This alloy has an aluminium purity of at least 99.5%. Thinner aluminium foils are usually in the alloy EN AW-8011A. To optimize the processing of these aluminium foils the aluminium purity here is somewhat lower and the iron & silicon content is a little higher. This makes the aluminium foil much more tear-resistant.
